I'm looking for a just-in-time communication tool for use in my Popular Culture course, something that will facilitate resposes during class to questions posed from the lectern, more thoughfully composed statements based on the set readings and tutorial questions, and immediate messages on popular culture as they encounter it.
HootCourse may be the answer. Students need to have a Twitter, Facebook or Blogger account. Their posts on the Hoot Course dashboard (which can be embedded in the course Website - though I've yet to get it to work in Blackboard) can appear in their Twitter, FB or Blogger stream though they can set it not to post to Twitter.
Posts can also be made directly from Twitter with the course's hashtag.
Hoot Course filters posts into All, Qustions and Answers, and Messages from the teacher.
